Leading Provider of IPC certification, IPC training and solder training to IPC A 610, J STD 001, IPC A 600, IPC A 620 standards for PWA, PTH and SMT technologies. Rework including BGA to IPC 7711 and PCB repair to IPC 7721. Training and education in soldering, lead free, ESD, circuit repair and cable and wire harness assembly.
This is a combination lectured and hands-on course covering the information in the IPC/EIA J-STD-001 document. The J-STD-001, "Requirements for Soldered Electrical & Electronic Assemblies", describes materials, method and acceptance criteria for producing soldered electrical and electronic assemblies. This document has been adopted for use by the Department of Defense (DoD) effective July 19, 2001.
This five day program recognizes qualified instructors and will present knowledge of the J-STD-001 as it pertains to selected sections covering Wire and Terminals, Through-Hole and Surface Mount technology in both lead and lead-free.
As part of the requirements for certification, students will be evaluated on their soldering skills in both Lead and Lead-free, and must score an 80% and no single score less than 70% on both the written and skills examinations.
Topics Include:
Soldering Wire/Terminal Connections
Soldering Through-Hole Components
Soldering SMT Components, including Fine Pitch
Selecting and using the proper toolsUnderstanding industry terminology
Recognizing acceptable criteria for all solder connections
Selecting solder, flux and solder paste
Applying accepted cleaning requirements
This course emphasizes J-STD-001 document interpretation. It is a 5-day, advanced course, designed to teach selected content of the J-STD-001 to experienced solderers. Students will demonstrate soldering skills and complete open and closed book exams. The certification gives individuals valuable recognition of their understanding of the J-STD-001, and allows them to conduct in-house operator training.
