Counterfeit Component InspectionManchester, NH – June 1, 2012 – EPTAC Corporation, an international leader in electronics training and IPC certification, is co-sponsoring a vital, one hour webinar presentation by ECN, the ECIA, and a panel of industry experts on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at 2:00pm EST.

The Fight Against Counterfeit Electronic Components webcast will provide distributors and semiconductor manufacturer’s perspective on the latest government and industry developments in the fight against counterfeit electronic components. Join the discussion and learn from the panel of experts as they discuss:

  • The evolving regulations on risk mitigation in the Defense Department’s supply chain.
  • How such regulations might impact contractors and subcontractors.
  • Emerging standards for counterfeiting avoidance in the aerospace and automotive industries.

EPTAC Corporation has recently partnered with the Independent Distributors of Electronics Association (IDEA), a non-profit trade association based in Buena Park, CA, to deliver training programs that provide orientation to counterfeit mitigation and training based on IDEA-STD-1010: Acceptability of Electronic Components Distributed in the Open Market and the IDEA-SG-2020 Study Guide for preparation for the IDEA-ICE-3000 Professional Inspector Certification Exam.

The curriculum offers both lecture and hands-on experience, particularly in examination and the detection of substandard and counterfeit characteristics utilizing both non-magnification and magnification techniques. The courses are recommended for a number of professionals within the electronics industry, including management, component engineering, procurement, quality assurance, and inspection personnel.

According to Master Instructor Mark Young, “Counterfeit mitigation does not begin when the components arrive at your back door; it starts long before the PO is ever placed. Learn how all of your ‘systems’ (supplier assurance, purchasing, receiving, inspection, quality, and more) need to be enhanced to insure your protection.”

EPTAC is an internationally recognized solder training and IPC certification corporation, giving professionals the skills to accelerate their careers and businesses the talent to succeed. For over 25 years, EPTAC has been helping corporations increase quality standards, improve productivity, and maximize profits.
