We’ve received many inquiries regarding whether or not NASA has adopted the J-STD-001 Space Addendum.
The answer is: NASA has adopted J-STD-001 ES and the J-STD-001 documents.

I’ve attached the first paragraph on the web site, and it states the NASA 8739.2 and 8739.3 were cancelled in October 2011.
After eight years of coordination between NASA and the IPC’s Assembly Joining and Processes Committee on the Space Addendum for the soldering standard J-STD-001 and its accompanying training program, NASA has adopted IPC J-STD-001ES for all Programs and Projects, effective on October 17, 2011. The NASA standards for soldering, NASA-STD-8739.2 and NASA-STD-8739.3, are cancelled as of October 17, 2011. NASA-STD-8739.6, Implementation for NASA Workmanship Standards was published in 2012 to provide additional instructions for implementation of J-STD-001ES on NASA Programs.
NASA did generate another document NASA-STD-8739.6, “IMPLEMENTATION REQUIREMENTS FOR NASA WORKMANSHIP STANDARDS”, which was approved September 5, 2012, and it discusses: “…quality requirements for the manufacture of electronic assemblies and for electrostatic discharge (ESD) control which augment requirement found in one or more of the documents listed in Table 1.”
In Table 1 it lists:
“Space Application Electronic Hardware Addendum to J-STD-001E Requirements for Soldered electrical and Electronic Assemblies.”
